Your preschooler notices letters on shop signs, wants to count every step, or keeps asking what shape something is. You would like a learning app that gives you somewhere to start when those questions come up.

TinyLearn is a free, ad-supported Android learning app for children ages 2–8, including preschoolers ages 3–5. It brings together tap-to-hear alphabets, counting, colours, shapes and learning games. English ABC, Hindi Varnamala and Marathi Varnamala have their own alphabet topics, and numbers 1–100 are available in all three languages.

We make TinyLearn. Here is a practical look at what you can explore with your preschooler and how to try a first session together.

What can a preschooler try in TinyLearn?

Start with what your child already enjoys. A child who points out circles on a walk might like shapes; one who asks about their name might enjoy hearing a letter.

TinyLearn includes 11 learning topics. You do not need to work through them in order or cover them all. One familiar activity is enough for a first visit.

A simple first session: listen, try, find

Sit with your child and let them choose between two topics: “Shall we look at letters or shapes?” Keeping the choice small gives you an easy starting point.

  1. Listen together. If you chose letters, tap one and hear its sound. Repeat it together if your child wants to join in.
  2. Try something familiar. Revisit that letter, or explore a shape your child recognises. Let them ask questions and repeat a favourite.
  3. Find it in the room. Put the phone down and look for the letter in a book or the shape on a household object.

There is no need to finish a topic. You can stop after one discovery and return another day. For more activities to pair with the app, see our learning ideas for home.

English at preschool, Hindi or Marathi at home

If your child encounters English at preschool and hears Hindi or Marathi with family, you can choose an alphabet topic that fits the moment. Explore an English letter from their name one day, then listen to a Hindi or Marathi letter together another day.

Counting is another place to begin. Hear a few numbers in your chosen language, then count the same number of toys aloud together.

TinyLearn's language activities provide letters and number practice. Keep family conversations, songs and books alongside them so your child has chances to hear and use words in everyday situations.

Which game should you open first?

For a child who enjoys matching, try Match the Shapes, where players drag shapes to their matching outlines. Sit nearby and help with the first attempt if needed.

The app also includes games involving words, maths and sentences. Choose by what your child is comfortable trying; the full collection spans ages 2–8, so some activities may be better to revisit later. You can preview the mini-games before installing.
